Workshops

Palliative Care WA has a range of community presentations and interactive workshops on advance care planning.

They cover topics like:

  • What is advance care planning?
  • How to have a conversation about death and dying with your family, loved ones and health care providers.
  • Exploring your values and preferences for end of life care.
  • What is palliative care and when should it be offered?
  • Up to date information on organ and tissue donation in WA.
  • What are the health and lifestyle choices you can make at the end of life?
  • How to make an Advance Health Directive, Enduring Power of Guardianship and Enduring Power of Attorney.

Workshops on offer

Introductory advance care planning community workshop - 2 hours

This session introduces the concept of and importance of advance care planning and uses our popular Dying to Talk interactive card game.

Advance care planning Community Workshop - 4 hours

This highly interactive workshop outlines and explains advance care planning and includes the Dying to Talk card game. The session takes an in-depth look at Enduring Powers of Attorney and Guardianship and Advance Health Directives providing detailed guidance on how to complete the forms.

How it works

Palliative Care WA will come to your workplace or community.

We provide

  • Interactive and engaging workshops with great presenters
  • Hard-copy information resources and handouts for participants
  • Promotional fliers and social media promotional materials to help promote the event.

You provide

  • At least 30 participants
  • A suitable venue, or if that is not possible, meet the cost of venue hire
  • Audio visual screen
  • Morning tea/light lunch dependent on the workshop length
  • Interpreters - if required.
